Dr. Emily is a licensed physical therapist, a 500-hour yoga instructor through Yoga Alliance and a certified yoga therapist through IAYT.
In 2007 she graduated from Sacred Heart University with a Bachelor of Science in Exercise Science and worked extensively in a sports medicine physical therapy clinic as an exercise specialist. She went on to receive her Doctorate in Physical Therapy from Nazareth College of Rochester in 2012.
Dr. Emily has had her own struggles with chronic conditions including chronic lyme disease, adrenal fatigue, abdominal scar tissue adhesions and back pain that left her immobilized and frustrated.
Even though she studied extensively as a physical therapist and was treated in the “traditional” way, she still continued to have pain and discomfort including hospitalizations and thousands of dollars on dead end treatments. It wasn’t until she found a holistic approach that included Myofasical Release, Craniosacral Therapy, yoga and functional exercises that her symptoms subsided and she could take back her life!
She tried EVERYTHING before finding what worked for her.
She even went as far as to see an orthopedic doctor who told her she had to live with it or get injections or even worse – surgery! She left the orthopedic office in tears because she was so discouraged and unsupported by the way they treated her pain. She thought to herself – if I am feeling this way, I can only imagine how my patients might feel.
Although more invasive treatments are sometimes necessary Dr. Emily found that many patients who opted for these procedures still felt unsupported only to find that the pain returned. From that day forward she made it her goal in life to help as many people as possible free themselves from pain and discomfort and live the life they truly want to live.
